Percy, a troubled young woman on parole, yearns for a fresh start and heads to the small Wisconsin town of Gilead. She finds work at the dried-up town’s only eatery, The Spitfire Grill. As Percy discovers her own path to redemption, she awakens the town’s capacity for healing and hope. With soaring melodies and Midwestern charm, this folk musical is a celebration of kindness and community. “The country-flavored tunes and lyrics are rendered with the kind of conviction and expertise that make them transcendent. What in normal times would be a joy is, in these troubled ones, sheer nourishment.” – New York Magazine

This isn’t your grandmother’s Austen! Bold, surprising, boisterous, and timely, this P&P for a new era explores the absurdities and thrills of finding your perfect (or imperfect) match in life. The outspoken Lizzy Bennet is determined to never marry, despite mounting pressure from society. But can she resist love, especially when that vaguely handsome, mildly amusing, and impossibly aggravating Mr. Darcy keeps popping up at every turn?! Literature’s greatest tale of latent love has never felt so theatrical, or so full of life than it does in this effervescent adaptation. Because what turns us into greater fools…than the high-stakes game of love?

Come From Away is based on the true story of the time when the isolated community of Gander, Newfoundland, played host to the world. What started as an average day in a small town turned into an international sleepover, when 38 planes, carrying thousands of people from around the globe, were diverted to Gander’s airstrip on September 11, 2001. Undaunted by culture clashes and language barriers, the people of Gander cheered the stranded travelers with music, an open bar and the recognition that we’re all part of a global family. Rated: PG. Book, Music, and Lyrics by Irene Sankoff and David Hein. Based on real people and actual events that happened the day of and the days following September 11, 2001.

Season 13 kicks off in the fall of 2026 with an Elizabethan classic and a cornerstone of western civilization, Christopher Marlowe’s Doctor Faustus —a powerful cautionary tale about the pitfalls of limitless personal ambition, asking the question: “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, but lose his soul?” The play follows Faustus’s rise as a magician through his pact with Lucifer—facilitated by the demon Mephistopheles—and his ultimate downfall as he fails to repent before his damnation. The play has had a lasting influence, inspiring adaptations across stage, film, and other media, and the characters of Faustus and Mephistopheles remain iconic figures in Western literature.

Tom Stoppard’s On the Razzle is a joyous explosion of language and farce. Wit flies as fast as doors slam. Romance is impulsive, impractical, and irresistible. What unfolds is a night of theatrical mayhem that builds toward a crescendo of comic precision and sheer delight.

A play about a play—and the artists who risked everything to tell it. Inspired by the true story of Sholem Asch’s seminal Yiddish work, God of Vengeance , and its infamous 1923 obscenity trial, INDECENT is a haunting, klezmer-infused play with music that traces the turbulent journey of a troupe determined to stage a work deemed “indecent.” As their story unfolds across continents and decades, so too does a powerful meditation on censorship, nationalism and the policing of queer love. At once tender and thunderously relevant, this breathtaking theatrical experience shines a light on the enduring struggle between artistic expression and societal control. In a moment when questions of whose stories are “acceptable” feel increasingly urgent, INDECENT invites us to bear witness to the courage of artists, the cost of silence and the unshakable power of theater itself.

Anton Chekhov's first major success, The Seagull is a razor-sharp portrait of people who mistake ambition for purpose and love for salvation. At a house on a lake, desire curdles into obsession, success breeds emptiness, and every relationship becomes manipulation, exposing the intoxicating and devastating cost of chasing relevance, validation, and artistic immortality. In a dynamic new adaptation by director Grant Sorenson, The Seagull embraces the urgency and messiness of Chekhov as a young playwright, stripping away 130 years of veneer to reveal the raw and racing heartbeat of this revolutionary tragicomedy. The Modern Rep, launched in 2026, is an Actors' Equity company focused solely on classical work; this is their inaugural production in their own space in the North Loop.

Angels in America – Part One: Millennium Approaches is the first half of Tony Kushner’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play that explores the intersecting lives of several New Yorkers in the mid-1980s, during the height of the AIDS crisis and amidst the social and political tensions of the Reagan era. It follows the intersecting lives of six main characters—including a gay man with AIDS abandoned by his partner, a closeted Mormon lawyer, and a ruthless powerbroker—culminating when an angel crashes through a ceiling to declare a prophet. The play intertwines politics, religion, sexuality, and identity in a deeply human and often surreal narrative. Angels in America Part One and Two , directed by Bruce Roach, will return to Rarig Center’s Stoll Thrust Theatre as the BFA Acting Program Class of 2027’s final presentation from April 23- May 2, 2027. Join us as this talented company takes on one of contemporary theatre’s most demanding works. Stay tuned for ticket information and performance schedules as the dates approach!
