Hmong Futures: The Future of Us is an intergenerational story asking what it takes for a family to move from surviving to thriving. Anchoring the play are its protagonists, three Hmong American women, and it examines the conversations, daily rituals, and little moments that help us heal. To create this world premiere, playwright Katie Ka Vang held community engagement events and discussions in 2025, during the 50th anniversary of Southeast Asian people in Minnesota.

Through sharp humor, personal stories, and a smidge of chaos, performers will unpack everything from identity to stereotypes, pet peeves, Minnesota, and even their sex lives. Three Southeast Asian Girl Scouts are keeping their Saint Paul, MN, community together during the zombie apocalypse. Between helping their elders, doing food runs, and building campfires, they’ve probably earned, like, four Gold Awards each. This genre-bending world premiere is the finale of playwright Saymoukda Duangphouxay Vongsay’s Kung Fu Zombies trilogy, but all you need to know is that, for some reason, these zombies know kung fu.
